# Accounts
> Create, edit, and review the accounts in your organization, and assign them to groups

An **account** is a unit inside your organization that can represent a country, franchise, or business unit, with its own users, connections, and keys. The **Accounts** tab is where you create, edit, and review them.
Open it from **Organization → Accounts**.
## Why organizations use several accounts
* **Granular access management**: each account can represent a country, franchise, business unit, or any segmentation you need, so access and data stay separated.
* **Diverse user roles**: one person can work across several accounts with a different role on each. See [Roles](/docs/using-yuno/organization/roles).
* **Cleaner reporting**: sections that compare accounts let you combine exactly the ones you want, without juggling separate logins.
## Assigning accounts to groups
Select one or more accounts and use **Add to group** to place them in an [account group](/docs/using-yuno/organization/account-groups). An account belongs to one group at a time, so adding it to a new group removes it from the old one — the dialog says so before you confirm.
This is the only place an account **moves** between groups. The **Add accounts** action inside a group's own details page offers ungrouped accounts only.
## Setting a preferred account
You can mark one account as preferred. It becomes the default selection in the [context chip](/docs/using-yuno/account-context), so the dashboard opens on the account you care about most.
## Finding account IDs
Each account has unique Account IDs for Live Mode and Test Mode. Open the account from this tab to see them, or find them in the [Developers](/docs/using-yuno/settings/developers-credentials) section.
